Put up the bunting and wave those Union Jacks, the Landguard Peninsula at Felixstowe in Suffolk will be celebrating The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a series of events and activities for all the family.

Landguard Celebrates - The Queen's Platinum JubileeWoof! From Saturday 28 May to Sunday 5 June, come and help Her Majesty find the missing royal corgis around Landguard Fort and Felixstowe Museum. There are two separate trails to enjoy, and you might also spot some familiar royal faces getting into the Jubilee spirit too. The ten ‘royally decorated’ corgis have been created by the talented Debby Cloud from The Wool Baa Felixstowe.

On Thursday 2 June, Landguard Fort will have an afternoon (1200-1600) of children’s fun, including Punch and Judy and magic shows. Then from 2000, come and see the lighting of the Felixstowe Beacon, featuring live music from Rachel Foskett and the Felixstowe Community Choir.

Ahoy me Hearties! The celebrations continue with the Festival of the Sea on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 June, as Landguard Fort and Felixstowe Museum will be hosting a swash-buckling weekend of Pirate fun, including re-enactments and musket firing. On Saturday from 1400, enjoy the colourful Parade of Boats on the Orwell Estuary featuring a variety of vessels decorated with flags and bunting.

Stephen Rampley, Landguard Marketing and Events Co-ordinator said “Bring the whole family to Landguard for a right royal celebration, as we mark 70 years of Her Majesty’s service. From corgis, Punch and Judy and pirates to an exciting maritime spectacle… there is something for everyone to enjoy”.
