Come and celebrate the Festival of the Sea at the Landguard Peninsula.

Festival of the Sea CelebrationsThe counties of Suffolk and Essex are combining to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with this Festival aiming to inspire people to participate and celebrate all aspects of the sea and our extensive coastlines.

The Festival also forms part of the Festival of Suffolk 2022.


Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 June (1000-1700)
Ahoy me Hearties! Pirates at Landguard Fort and Felixstowe Museum
A swash-buckling weekend of re-enactments, musket firing and a quiz trail. Normal admission charges for the Fort and Museum apply.

Festival of the Sea CelebrationsSaturday 18 June (from 1400)
Parade of Boats
Featuring yachts and boats of all kinds, including a variety of vessels from organisations including the Royal Navy, Trinity House, Harwich Haven Authority (HHA), Essex Marine Police and the RNLI. Convening between Essex and Suffolk, at the confluence of the rivers Stour and Orwell, the fleet will assemble near the Ganges Buoy at Shotley Spit. Weather permitting, flying colourful flags and bunting, the parade will criss-cross the rivers exchanging waves and cheers with spectators on the shore.
