Marketing Coordinator

Salary: £11,315.20 (WTE £26,166.40). Location: Landguard, Felixstowe. Contract: Permanent

Hours: 16 hours per week (flexible), some weekend and evening work, and ad hoc additional hours may be required.

The Landguard Trust is seeking a dynamic and organised Marketing Coordinator to join our team. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and enjoys working flexibly, both independently and as part of a team. You must have strong organisational skills and attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills. A passion for nature and heritage is an advantage as you will be part of the team working with the volunteer groups that manage the Landguard Peninsula, which includes a nature reserve, museum and fort. Effective marketing is vital in promoting and developing Landguard as a major visitor attraction which in turn is essential to raise revenue for the site’s continued management, improvements and conservation.

As the Marketing Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in developing a marketing plan that considers all forms of marketing and promotion, implement digital and traditional marketing campaigns, and coordinate the creation and output of marketing material, including leaflets, posters, presentations, website and social media content, whilst monitoring performance, analysing data, and providing feedback. The role requires someone who can manage websites, and social media accounts, updating, creating and scheduling posts, coordinating content from across the different elements of the site whilst ensuring brand consistency. As part of the role you will support the events team promoting and delivering events, and other tasks as required which may include writing press releases, representing Landguard at third party events and press interviews.

Landguard Marketing Coordinator Job Description and Person Specification

Part time 16 hours per week, flexible

Main Purposes of Job: 

Working with stakeholders develop and deliver a comprehensive and coordinated marketing programme for Landguard that will contribute to the development of Landguard as a visitor destination.

Description:

Employed by the Landguard Trust the Marketing Coordinator role requires working with stakeholders on the Landguard Peninsula which includes Landguard Fort, Nature Reserve, Bird Observatory and Felixstowe Museum. You will plan, coordinate and assist as necessary the marketing activity for all attractions at the peninsula creating a joined up media plan, whilst taking advantage of promotional opportunities as they arise. This will include creating and collecting content for use on social media and keeping the website refreshed and relevant. Your approval will be required before any advertising / promotional material is released to ensure that brand and content guidelines are followed. You will develop a list of approved communication channels and create and maintain relationships with key media stakeholders. The job involves flexible working, occasionally at weekends and evenings. Working from home some of the time is possible but there will be requirements to work at the different attractions at Landguard with staff and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

1.         Manage and coordinate Landguard social media.

2.         Manage the Landguard website.

3.         Create promotional media, including press releases and copy for online and hard copy advertising and promotion.

4.         Work with other organisations and groups in the promotion of Landguard as part of the wider Felixstowe / Suffolk tourism offer.

5.         In partnership with other key stakeholders, coordinate and contribute to the tourist marketing of Landguard across all appropriate forms of media.

6.         Provide guidance and support to event organisers that will ensure successful event planning, marketing and promotion.

7.         Assist in the Analysis of events at Landguard; monitor and evaluate the success of the programme.

8.         Prepare reports on issues, incidents or general progress as required.

9.         If required assist with representing Landguard with press, radio and television interviews.

10.       To undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required compatible with and /or arising from those listed above.

Knowledge and Experience:

Experience of marketing management.

IT programmes experience (in particular Microsoft Office).

Experience of managing websites and social media.

An understanding of conservation, heritage and the coastal environment.

An understanding of the visitor economy and the specific needs of business in a coastal resort.

Event experience.

Skills and Abilities:

 

Marketing and promotional skills.

Ability to think creatively.

Good communication skills.

Ability to present information to varied audiences.

Working with volunteers.

Event Planning.

Presentation skills.

Education and Training:

Marketing management qualification, or

At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.

Event Management qualification or experience.

 

 

Other Requirements:

A commitment to one’s own development and to support training and development initiatives.

Must be mobile / have access to a car to attend meetings and events at other sites / locations within the local area.

Flexible and willing to work outside of normal working hours.

Good knowledge of Health and Safety and GDPR

Live in or near Felixstowe / have a good knowledge of Felixstowe.
